Religious Unity and Diversity within Hinduism and Buddhism

Sri Lanka, an island just east of India's southernmost point and known as a bounty island and the place where the sacret book of the Buddhists, Pali canon, is written down. It is marked by religious diversity and activity of both firewalking, occupation rituals, pilgrimage processions, where Buddhism and Hinduism in many ways melt together.The summer school will qualify the students to: 1) have greater insight into Hinduism and Buddhism in a contemporary perspective, 2) the relationship between religion and culture in an Asian context, 3) religion and conflict 4) religion and materiality in Sri Lanka today after the long conflict between Sinhalese and Tamils, 5) how to perform a minor fieldwork.
