Service Design and Innovation

This two week course provides participants with insights into the world of Service Design and Innovation. The course features an optimal balance between theory and practice: students will be introduced to the basics of Service Science, Service Innovation and Service Design in the first week. The understanding of different design/strategy tools is central. For example, the week will feature Services Blueprinting: a powerful tool to visualize service processes of companies. With help of real-life examples, services are analysed and points of improvements will be identified.Week 1 consists of three course meetings and homework.Students are given the chance to create service innovations themselves in a project-based setting during the second week of the course. The newly learned tools can immediately be applied and the teams will be supported with processes and creative techniques to help them come up with innovative solutions.Week 2 includes three course meetings and individual project team meetings with advisor next to project workIn a final project presentation the teams can pitch their outcomes to a renowned jury.
