Social Enterprises: Using Your Creativity and Sensitivity

The Institute of Social Work has started a comprehensive development programme combining education with research and development in order to strengthen the spirit of entrepreneurship in the field of social work and social services. The Social Enterprises course will be organised for the second time in the framework of Tallinn Summer School.Social enterprises are combining the advantage of modern rehabilitation and social services with sustainable business models. Social enterprises can play a very important role in social innovation, especially in the middle and low income countries where social expenditures are very limited. Our summer course provides the participants with an insight into the world of Estonian social enterprises, highlighting the latest developments of the field.The five-day course consists of lectures and seminars/workshops on social enterprises. It is not only start-ups and art projects that can be cool and creative. With a good idea that has both value for rehabilitation and a business potential, people who face disadvantages can move from %E2%80%9Cpatients%E2%80%9D and %E2%80%9Cclients%E2%80%9D to becoming citizen participants and even entrepreneurs. Social enterprises are moving the design and image of modern rehabilitation services in fascinating directions, emphasizing the abilities of every individual and the creative side of social work.

The course is designed for students and specialists from social work or related fields (health, psychology, sociology, education etc).

Course aim
The course aims to provide a unique educational experience and an opportunity to understand some of the latest developments in the social work profession and related fields. In lectures, interactive seminars and field visits we will look beyond the traditional social work practice areas to together explore new fields and ideas.
