In this course you develop your reading, listening, writing, and speaking skills. You also work on your grammar and vocabulary. A number of cultural aspects of Spanish-speaking countries are discussed during the lessons. Exercises focus on practical and realistic situations. At the end of the course you can write a simple text or a personal letter, understand an informative text, and communicate with a Spanish-speaking partner at a basic level. The target level of this course is CEFR-level A2.

Course aim
By the end of the course, participants are assumed (at level A2 of the Common European Framework) to be able to:- Write a simple text or personal letter in which spelling, accents, and punctuation are used properly, and in which grammar and vocabulary appropriately.- Comprehend descriptive, functional texts and informative practical texts. Attention is given to applying the necessary reading strategies, including reading for context in order to derive the meaning of unfamiliar words.- Understand a Spanish native speaker in conversation, that is understand the relevant information.- Communicate at an elementary level with a native speaker of Spanish, using a functional vocabulary and the proper grammatical structures. The quality of pronunciation is such that a native speaker is able to understand what you are saying.

EUR 450: The course fee does not include any study materials. Tilburg University students 'pay' with 6 language vouchers. If you do not have enough vouchers, you pay 65 per language voucher.- Tilburg University students pay 390.- Prospective Tilburg University students who register from September 2015 pay 450 and can use their language vouchers to get a refund of 390.- Tilburg University members of staff: pay 410.- Alumni who graduate less than four years ago, can participate in this course at the internal rate of 410.- External participants pay 450.Tilburg University Summer School charges a fee of 70 per participant for the organization of the event. The course fee does not include accommodation. You have to arrange accommodation yourself. Tilburg University Summer School recommends you book a room with the housing company directly. If you wish to do so, you can indicate this during your registration.
