Sustainable Packaging Design

Packaging is an intrinsic part of a product, it can help sell it, keep its contents fresh, save on transportation costs and communicate with the purchaser. A designer needs to manage a variety of sometimes conflicting demands, to create the perfect package for a product. This course offers participants the tools to respond to packaging briefs balancing both the commercial and environmental concerns.

Course leader
Kasia Rust is Creative Director of Burst* Ltd (http://www.burst-design.com), a branding design and Packaging company whose clients include Superdrug, Primark, The Goodwood Estate and a variety of boutique brands. She is a graduate of Central Saint Martins

Target group
This course is suitable for people with no experience of packaging design but who has an interest in design and how sustainability can be built into it.

Course aim
First week, London: You will be immersion in branding strategies and methodologies to develop a packaging through graphic design and communication tools: typography, composition, art directions of photography and illustration. Second week, Barcelona: create a concept brand and design of a packaging alternative for the take away food of this brand
