Target group
Target groupApplications are invited from urban scholars, filmmakers and multimedia artists working with visual and new media in their projects. Collaborative projects are especially welcome. Undergraduates without a university degree will not be considered.Pre-requisitesCourse participants are expected to have a. a background in urban studies, film, or new media (postgraduate level)b. experience with urban research, film, multimedia or urban intervention projectsc. an interest in interdisciplinary collaborations on urban topicsLanguage requirementThe language of instruction is English, thus all applicants have to demonstrate a strong command of spoken and written English to be able to participate actively in discussions at seminars and workshops.
Course aim
This course proposes an intensive, research-focused program for the creative development and experimentation with new forms of expression, engagement and collaboration in and of the city. For this it invites a number of selected projects and matches them with leading professionals in the field, who successfully combine film, multimedia practice and urban interventions in their own work. It offers theoretical and practical input and provides the space for urban researchers, filmmakers and multimedia artists to interact and collaborate towards accomplishing their own projects.
Credits info
1.5 ECTS Our courses offer ECTS points, which may be accepted for credit transfer by the participants' home universities. Those who wish to obtain these credits should inquire about the possible transfer at their home institution prior to their enrollment. The Summer University Office will send a transcript to those who have fulfilled all the necessary course requirements and request one.
