The Future of Environmental and Human Health Exposure Modelling of Chemicals
calendar_month 29 Iul 2015, 00:00
The MERLIN-Expo software is a new tool for the assessment of human exposure to environmental contaminants, and will play a central part in this summer school in the teaching of subjects along the themes of advanced modelling methods, environmental fate, human exposure and pharmacokinetics. MERLIN-Expo was identified by the European Commission as a highly promising; it integrates multimedia, PBPK and dose-response models to address the entire exposure assessment chain, in addition to accounting for the lifetime exposure of different human populations and exposure through multiple pathways. Understanding the nature and extent of exposure is key to understanding the risk to human health, and with growing scientific insight into how chemicals affect humans, competence in the use of advanced modelling methods is necessary to be able to assess complex exposure scenarios. This summer school will be comprised of lectures and hands-on practical sessions using the MERLIN-Expo tool so that students gain an excellent understanding of the principles of advanced modelling techniques. A day trip to the Milan Expo 2015 event will be included in the course. The summer school is endorsed by SETAC and will also be run as part of the CEEP program (www.cremonafoodvalley.com).To find out more and to register to attend please visit: http://www.cremonafoodvalley.com/courses/food-safety-saf/course/the-future-of-environmental-and-human-health-exposure-modelling-of-chemicals.html.
