Trends in Behavioural Science

Are you interested in understanding how we behave? Are you fascinated by the way human behaviour varies in different social contexts? Or are you fascinated by the difference between normal and pathological behaviour? Or by the way our behaviour changes over time - as we develop and as we learn? If so, this might be an interesting course for you.You will get the chance to learn about the latest trends in behavioural science. The focus in this course will be on recent discoveries in a number of key aspects of behaviour. Topics will come from developmental psychology, clinical psychology, occupational psychology, health psychology and educational science. More specifically, themes in the course will include:%E2%80%A2%09Money as a motivator: from brain to behaviour %E2%80%A2%09Peer relationships in childhood and adolescence %E2%80%A2%09Evidence-based video games for improving learning and mental health outcomes %E2%80%A2%09Instructional design for developing 21 -century skills %E2%80%A2%09Early life stress: Adaptive and maladaptive outcomes %E2%80%A2%09Bodily awareness %E2%80%A2%09Emotional action and decision making Although the focus in the course will be on these specific topics, another goal of the course will be to give you the opportunity to develop a broader view of behavioural science. You will be encouraged to integrate what you have learned about each individual topic into a bigger picture, and hence to see what the next steps might be in behavioural science. What are the next big discoveries about human behaviour going to be?This course is aimed at advanced-level bachelor%E2%80%99s students who are considering further study in behavioural science. The course will be taught by researchers who work at Radboud University Behavioural Science Institute (BSI). You will therefore not only be taught by leading experts in behavioural science, but you will also have the opportunity to get a feel for the current research at the BSI. The course should give you a good introduction to the issues dealt with in research oriented maser programmes in the field of behavioural sciences, e.g. the two-year English-taught Behavioural Science Research Master (BSRM) at Radboud University. Students about to start the BSRM would also be very welcome.
