Universal Design of ICT

The main topic in this course is the design, evaluation, and testing of everyday technology developed in accordance with principles for universal accessibility. This is acquired through many practical exercises coupled with lectures presenting theories relevant to the field.Another important part of the course is to gain knowledge of Norwegian and international legislation regarding the inclusion of all groups of users in society. During the course, the students are encouraged to acquire knowledge of various physical and cognitive disabilities and design universally accessible solutions for ICT in cooperation with users.The course will provide both theoretical principles of universal design and hands-on experience on how to design and evaluate ICT systems using these principles.

Target group
This course is directed at students, ICT system designers, developers and others who are interested in universally accessible ICT solutions.We also recommend a minimum of 30 ECTS within computer science.

Fee info
NOK 3000: All participants in the HiOA International Summer School pay a summer school fee of 3000 NOK. This covers participation, arrival service, welcome packet, social program, excursions, the extracurricular Norwegian Life and Society course, and more. NOK 3500: All participants in need of accommodation pay an accommodation fee of 3500 NOK. The fee covers a private, furnished room, deposit, electricity and internet access by cable.
