Housing and urban issues have come to the forefront of social, economic and environmental debates in recent years as metropolitan modes of living have become even more widespread and globally pervasive.In this three-week programme students will explore the fundamental issues that are shaping the development and evolution of cities in the 21st century. Target group
Students who have completed at least two years of a Bachelor's programme in the social sciences (before the programme begins). Masters students and professionals are also welcome to apply. Students majoring in disciplines outside the social sciences must prove that they have completed sufficient coursework in the area of urban studies or a related field.
Course aim
The course will examine subjects such as architecture and neighborhood design, housing finance and policy, city planning and sustainability.
Credits info
6 ECTS Students will be required to submit smaller assignments during the course. A research paper will be assigned which must be submitted a month after the end of the course. Students will present their topics on the last day of the course.
Fee info
EUR 1650: Tuition fees include lunch on class days, excursions & all study materials. EUR 500: Tentative. The Summer Programmes Office mediates housing for students. Students in the same programme are placed in the same building or as close to each other as possible. More information regarding housing will be given closer to the start of the programme to admitted students.
