UNRISD is now accepting applications for a three-month internship position in the research programme on Markets, Business and Regulation.

Qualifications:

* MA or MSc in the Social Sciences (e.g. Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Business Studies, Development Studies);

* Familiarity with two or more of the following literatures: corporate social responsibility, industrial policy in developing countries, poverty alleviation, varieties of capitalism, social policy/welfare state.

* Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Access, EndNote (bibliographic database);

* Knowledge of online research tools, statistics and statistical software packages;

* Written and spoken fluency in English.

Responsibilities:

* Prepare a brief literature review/annotated bibliography on developments and trends on corporate social spending (community investment, corporate social welfare, corporate philanthropy), corporate taxation, and wage/profit distribution;

* Compile a database of statistics on the above issues;

* Compile a database of researchers and research institutes working on the above issues;

* Perform other administrative tasks (editing, document management, photocopying, assistance with workshop/conference preparation) that may be required during this period.

Time period:

* The internship will be 3 months in length, between April and August 2007;

* Exact start date is negotiable.

Remuneration:

* In accordance with the rules and regulations of the UN Internship Programme, this internship is not financially remunerated.

* The Institute is not responsible for interns'' travel expenses to and from Geneva, or for their medical insurance for the period of assignment.
