Internship - Public Affairs - 6 months full time with possible extension
Description
Porter Novelli Brussels is currently seeking an intern to join its Public Affairs department. The role is suited to a graduate with a practical understanding of the EU institutions and EU decision making.
The intern will support the teamas ongoing client activity on a range of Brussels and global projects in public affairs and public relations. Our clients are multinational companies and industry federations and coalitions with national and global political and media communication programs.
The intern will be a team member involved in the day-to-day support of client projects by drafting strategic materials (i.e. policy analysis, stakeholder mapping, etc.) and by conducting research on a variety of client related issues. In addition, the intern will show demonstrated tactical abilities and have good written and oral communication skills.
Responsibilities:
* Carry out research and analysis and compile background information on various EU policy making processes and negotiations
* Monitor media and political issues
* Produce drafts of written materials, such as summaries, presentations, commercial proposals and other client materials
* Attend different meetings and conferences in Brussels and report on them
* Participate in strategic planning sessions and develop communication plans for clients
* Support other team members as necessary in order to complete client projects
* Other responsibilities as assigned
Profile
* Preferably a masteras degree in political or international relations, European Union affairs, law or relevant related disciplines
* Practical understanding of the European institutions and EU policy making
* Research and analytical skills
* Fluent written and spoken English is essential, plus at least one other Community language, a sound command of French would be an advantage
* Good organisation, communication and representation skills
* Excellent written and oral skills and attention to detail
* Demonstrated strategic and tactical abilities
* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced office environment
A monthly expense allowance is offered for this role. Candidates should have EU citizenship or a relevant visa for the time of the traineeship.
Account Manager
You organise projects from A to Z: briefings, brainstorms, presentations, coordination, checking, after-calculation and invoicing all form part of your daily activities. You are a multitalented individual who keeps both feet on the ground. Your commercial flair will allow you to manage a client portfolio with success. You have a minimum of 5 yearsa working experience in a B-to-B and below-the-line environment. The printing process has no secrets to you and you are familiar with new media. You enjoy selling the entire spectrum of design & production, to both the client and your fellow communication advisers, and under your leadership a proposal effectively becomes a job. You make existing client relations even more profitable, to both partiesa satisfaction. You are familiar with the Office package and speak perfect Dutch and English.
Creative Director
You have a strong conceptual vision that can inspire our creative team to a higher level of creativity. You are a strategic thinker and you choose the best creative way to support the clientas business goals. You have considerable experience in the corporate sector (minimum of 10 years) and you are not limited to a personal style. You have a broad below-the-line portfolio: annual reports, corporate brochures, house styles, corporate branding and corporate advertising are your cup of tea. You love the challenge of finding the right balance between creativity and commercial success. You are in charge of the design process and you stimulate and coach others in executing concepts without losing sight of the clientas requirements. You are responsible for delivering superior creative quality. You have a strong knowledge of graphic design, typography and layout, and a very good understanding of communication tools and new media. You are flexible, stress resistant and speak perfect Dutch and English.
