Financial Markets and Institutions

This module runs in the first session: June 13 - July 4. To introduce students to the financial system and to provide an overview of the functions and workings of the financial markets, institutions and products in general but with special emphasis on the UK financial system.
Target group
Students with an IELTS score of 6.0 or higherMinimum age: 18
Course aim
At successful completion of this module students will be able to:Explain the components of a financial system and appreciate the role and functions of a financial system within an economyAnalyse the characteristics and operations of financial institutions and marketsCompare and contrast the essential characteristics of financial productsIdentify the causes and impact of financial crisis in different economies Appreciate the role of government, central bank policies and the impact of regulation on the financial system and the economy as a whole.

7.5 ECTS Each Summer School module is worth 15 UK credits. Official Transcripts are provided at the end of the course.
