Our Studentsa Union is one of the best in the country, twice winning the accolade ''Studentsa Union of the Year'' - the only SU in the country to do so. We also hold a ''Sport England VIP Recognition Award''.
European exchanges
We have partnerships with institutions in over 40 European countries through the Socrates-Erasmus scheme. Our students can choose to study at one of these institutions. We also welcome many students from partner institutions to Teesside each year.
Student`s Union
Independent of the University, the union is run for students by nine elected executive officers, all of whom were students here. As a student, you automatically become a member. All profits from commercial services are used directly for the provision of other services for you.

The hub of student night life is our award-winning Studentsa Union. Rock nights, cheesy pop, 60s, 70s and 80s nights, R&B, karaoke and much more - it''s the place to be.
There''s a great choice of bars right at the heart of the campus - drop in to the Dickens Inn or The Star or try the sylish Blue Lounge for a relaxed evening.
The Middlesbrough Empire is famous for its Sugar Shack dance nights. It''s seen some of the world''s finest DJs and producers such as Paul Oakenfold, Pete Tong, and Roger Sanchez.

Teesside has some of the most affordable University-managed accommodation in the UK. (Survey by Accommodation for Students in 2007).
You can choose University-managed halls, houses or flats (726 places) on campus or University-managed housing in the private sector - all within easy walking distance of University facilities.
rents in University residences, with free internet, cost L44-L71 a week (2008-09). In University-managed houses in Middlesbrough, rent varies from L35-L41.
* Undergraduate students who accept Teesside as their first (firm) choice are guaranteed a place in University accommodation on campus.
* International students starting a course in September, are guaranteed a place in University accommodation.
If you apply after 01 April, we will still guarantee you a place to live in University-managed housing in the private sector.
Culture and Leisure
If it''s art and culture you want - you''ve come to the right place. Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art - mima - is an inspiring new landmark venue showcasing an international programme of exhibitions. The gallery also houses its own impressive collection of modern arts, crafts and ceramics. It includes work by Ben Nicholson, David Bomberg, LS Lowry, Stanley Spencer and David Hockney.
