Basic Medicine (Foundation) Program
It is recommended that students who do not have a thorough knowledge in biology, physics, chemistry and mathematics or who need a period of acclimatization prior to the beginning the General Medicine Program, enroll in the Basic Medicine Program. Students successfully finishing the Basic Medicine Program are directly admitted into the General Medicine Program.
General Medicine (M.D.)
Medical studies take six years (twelve semesters). For international students the language of instruction is English. However, international students are required to learn Hungarian in order to be able to communicate with patients from the third year on. During the first two years the curriculum focuses on theoretical aspects of medicine that lay the foundation for subsequent medical subjects.
Dentistry (D.D.S.)
Dental studies take five years (ten semesters). The five year program at Debrecen has been carefully structured and designed to ensure a high standard of knowledge, skills and responsibility of dental surgeons. During the 1st year a thorough understanding of the basic medical sciences such as Biophysics, Biochemistry and Genetics is gained and in the 2nd year the program broadens to encompass Anatomy, Histology, Physiology, Behavioral Sciences in topics which are relevant to the Practice of Dentistry. Even in the 1st and 2nd year special dental subjects - Odontology, Preventive Dentistry, Dental Materials and Techniques - are taught. Pharmacy Program
The Faculty of Pharmacy offers a dynamic curriculum, which includes a broad base of both didactic and experiential components. Pharmacists are trained in clinical use and application of drugs and therapeutic goals of drug use their formulations, contraindications, adverse effects and potential for drug interactions. Pharmacists are active in primary patient care activities during their educations.

Fees Tuition fee for the Basic Medicine Program is 4,800 USD per year, for the General Medicine and Dentistry Programs it is 9,800 USD per year if it’s paid in one instalment, nonetheless, the tuition fee can be paid in two instalments, 6,800 USD is due in September and 4,000 USD in February, for the Pharmacy Program it is 7,500 for the first year, 2nd – 5th year it is 7,000 USD for the whole year
Financial assistance Based on the student''s grade an average a 20% discount of the tuition fee is available.
Admission requirements International students can be admitted into the English Program of the Medical School if they meet the entrance exam requirements in the following subjects, Biology and Physics or Chemistry as well as English Language. The language of the entrance exam interview is English. Applicants holding a B.A. or B.Sc. degree in biology related natural science fields at internationally accredited and registered English language foreign colleges or universities may be exempted from the entrance exam and only have to do interview.
