The Academy of Economic Studies presents the Second Edition of Bucharest Summer University, that will take place between August 20th and September 3rd 2006, in Bucharest, Romania. We live in a knowledge based economy, in an ever changing environment, and small and medium enterprises play a major role in present and future economies. Thus, the purpose of this years edition is to improve students knowledge and abilities concerning small and medium enterprises. The courses of the Bucharest Summer University will be entirely in English. The test taken at the end of the four modules will grant the participants 3 ECTS credits. The summer course is structured in four modules in order to obtain a good comprehension of the subject: - The knowledge based company and its characteristics.- Financial instruments for SMEs.- The major difficulties for SMEs and their sources.- Opportunities and threats for SMEs facing globalization and transition to a knowledge based economy. - The speakers of this edition will be some of the leading figures in the small and medium enterprises field, as well as distinguished Romanian and foreign professors such as : - Ovidiu Nicolescu - Vice-president of the Global Association of SMI- President of the National Council for SMI in Romania - Pierre Francois Lelaurain- Professor at the Robert Schuman University in Strasbourg- Ing. Valentin Cristea - President of the SMI Federation in Oltenia- Ing. Iulian Gropasila - President of the SMI branch in Constanta- Reston Lloyd Lester - Professor at Cambridge University in United Kingdom The applicants that register until April 22nd, 2006 will be submitted only to 200 for the entire summer school program. Late registration is also accepted until June 30th, 2006 , but applicants will be submitted to pay a participation fee of 250 . The fee covers all the academic courses and seminars, courses support, accommodation, 3 meals a day and entertainment activities, including a week-end excursion.
