Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission announces the 2012 International Fulbright Science and Technology Program for Ph.D. study at top universities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics focused fields (STEM). Candidates can be BA and MA students from both public and private universities in Romania.

International Fulbright Science and Technology program provides tuition, a monthly stipend for up to three years, health and accident coverage, a book and equipment allowance, roundtrip travel. After three years, U.S. universities either fully fund or work with the grantee to identify funding options (such as scholarships or a teaching assistantship) for Ph.D. degree completion.

> Eligible fields:
Aeronautics and Aeronautical Engineering, Agriculture (theoretical or research-based focus only),
Astronomy/Planetary Sciences, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Sciences/Engineering, Energy, Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Civil, Industrial, Mechanical, Ocean, and Petroleum), Environmental Science/Engineering (theoretical or science, research-based focus only), Geology/Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Information Sciences and Systems (engineering focus only), Materials Science/Engineering, Mathematics, Neurosciences, Oceanography, Public Health, (Biostatistics or Epidemiology), Physics. Only science, technology, engineering and mathematics focused areas (STEM) will be considered.

> Grant duration: 3 years (starting August 2012)

> Applicants must meet the following selection criteria:
- hold at least a BA degree before August 1, 2012;
- have oral fluency in English;
- have Romanian citizenship.


> Applicants are ineligible if they:

- are currently studying or living in the U.S at the time of
application;
- have received a previous Fulbright award;
- do not wish to pursue a Ph.D. study in an eligible field;
- are currently enrolled in a Ph.D. degree and intend to only pursue non-degree coursework or dissertation research.



> Each candidate will be required to submit:
- an online application available at https://apply.embark.com/student/fulbright/international), starting February 1, 2011;
- a minimum of two letters of recommendation (three preferred) submitted electronically and attached to the online
application //or official paper copies sent by mail;
- official academic transcripts and diplomas for all graduated levels accompanied by translations, scanned and attached
to the online application; only final nominees will be required to bring official transcripts and translations as
hardcopies by June 24, 2011;
- TOEFL/IELTS score reports (as soon as available, but prior to July 29, 2011).
- GRE General Exam scores (it is highly recommended that nominees sit for the GRE exam by June 24, 2011).

>Only online applications will be accepted. Additional documentation such as transcripts and letters of recommendation can be uploaded in the online application or sent by usual mail (postmarked) to the Romanian-U.S. Fulbright Commission,
