The Graduate College Symmetry, Geometry and Arithmetics (SGA) at the Mathematics Center Heidelberg (MATCH) of the Faculty for Mathematics and Computer Sciences offers five PhD fellowships in a structured three-years program for highly qualified students with an excellent background in Pure Mathematics.
Specific subject areas studied at the Graduate College are
Anabelian geometry,
Arithmetic of function fields,
Automorphic forms and representations,
Computational arithmetic geometry,
Galois groups and their realizations,
Geometry and moduli,
Iwasawa theory,
Topology of singular spaces.
The PhD topics offered are connected to highly relevant subjects in current research with main focus on fundamental questions of Pure Mathematics.
The faculty wants to increase the portion of female PhD students. Applications of female scientists are therefore highly appreciated. Applications should be submitted in paper-form, including a CV, transcript of the examination results, a copy of the master thesis (if available) and two letters of recommendation by academic teachers (to be sent directly).
