Scholarships for the European Forum Alpbach are available for students and recent graduates of below 35 years of age. We welcome applications from all nationalities and academic disciplines. Please take into account that there is a difference between scholarships for the European Forum Alpbach and the Alpbach Summer School on European Integration. Applications can only be submitted by mail to the office of the European Forum Alpbach and should also contain: - Application Form - Letter of motivation - Curriculum Vitae - Confirmation of study performance If you apply for the Alpbach Summer School on European Integration, you will also need - At least 2 letters of recommendation by a university professor - Proof of thorough knowledge of either German or English language - All Copies of Certificates (application form, letter of motivation, CV, letters of recommendation, study performance) have to be sent in duplicate 1 SCHOLARSHIP VALUE The amount of the scholarship differs according to the European region the applicant is coming from. For applicants coming from wealthy regions, scholarships include only tuition fees, for other applicants a contribution to the cost of accommodation and in exceptional cases to the board can be included as well. Travel costs have to be borne by the participants. 2 APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS Applications via e-mail cannot be accepted. Information on the main place of residence, the passport number and the date of birth is necessary to prove the intended use of the financial means. 2.1 Letter of motivation In a single sided text applicants should explain their reasons for applying for a scholarship for the European Forum Alpbach. Therefore we ask applicants to comment the content of the preliminary program of the Forum. The key is to show the organisers that the applicant has an ongoing interest in the themes of the European Forum Alpbach. [The preliminary programm will be available on our website on 29 March!] 2.2 Curriculum Vitae This should demonstrate both a commitment to translating academic knowledge into practical experience, and evidence of wider interests outside the classroom and the workplace. 2.3 Confirmation of study performance Please enclose proof of your academic progress through most relevant copies of school and university certificates (diplomas). 3 SELECTION PROCEDURE The successful applicants will be chosen via the detailed examination of the above-mentioned documentation. Selection will be made by a committee overseen by Vice President o. Univ.-Prof. DI Dr. Erich Gornik. We would like to see as many young people as possible participating in the whole manifestation because the intellectual stimulus, the particularity of Alpbach is the combination of both, the scientific seminars and the symposiums on chosen thematic focuses.
