Background: CoBank was established in 1916, and has grown to become a $59 billion member of the $197 billion Farm Credit System. Unlike most financial institutions, CoBank is a cooperative, owned by its customers and led by a board of directors primarily elected by its customers.
In partnership with Farm Credit Associations and other financial institutions, CoBank provides loans, leases and other financial services to the food, water, energy and communications industries. CoBank also provides export financing to help U.S. farmers and agribusinesses market and sell their products around the world. CoBank operates in 13 locations: its national office in Denver, Colorado, 11 regional offices throughout the U.S., and an office in Washington, DC. CoBank also has an international representative office in Singapore.
