For New Research Students from September 2006 Deadline for receipt of applications - 31 July 2006 The Department of Economics is offering three Postgraduate Research Scholarships to new research students from September 2006. These scholarships will cover tuition fees at the home rate and a maintenance grant at approximately the same rate as the Research Councils. Holders of the scholarships, as part of their research training, may be expected to teach a maximum of 6 hours per week. The scholarships will be offered for one year in the first instance, renewable for a maximum of three years, subject to satisfactory academic progress. Selection Criteria The candidates must hold an excellent Bachelor's (1 or 2.1), or Master's degree (merit or distinction). Application Process Applications should include: -research proposal -CV (including a contact email address) -covering letter -two academic references -your proposed course of study and qualification -official confirmation of your degree results. You can send the above information via email. However, official confirmation of your degree results should be mailed to the Departmental Executive Officer at the address below. Photocopies of these documents are not acceptable. The closing date for receipt of applications is Monday 31 July 2006. Candidates are reminded that an application will not be considered until all documents have been received. It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure that all documents, including references, are received by the Departmental Executive Officer by the closing date of 31 July 2006.
