General description of the Advanced Materials Doctoral Programme

The Advanced Materials Doctoral Programme (ADMA-DP) provides a high-quality, international and multidisciplinary environment for doctoral training, fostering research on natural and man-made materials and technologies for sustainable products, production processes and environmental applications.

The ADMA-DP, leading to the degrees of Doctor of Science Technology (D.Sc.(Tech)) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), combines disciplines and applied technologies and methods in geosciences, chemistry, biology, industrial management, as well as process, environmental, mechanical and material engineering, to educate experts for careers in academia, research institutes and industry.

Research groups in the Faculties of Technology, Science, Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, and Oulu Mining School (OMS) provide the core research environment for the students. This research environment is further reinforced by a long-standing national collaboration with other universities, research institutes and industrial partners.

ADMA-DP also benefits from the excellent research infrastructure with modern instruments for sample characterisation and preparation, process and materials screening and optimisation, material development and preparation, chemometrics and modelling.
