APhD position is available within popular music research at The Department of Musicology (IMV). The recipient of this award will be required to conduct research that builds on hermeneutic and music analytical perspectives through the contemporary advances in technology.
A central aspect of this investigation will entail a critical inquiry into audiovisual representations, which will have a focus on emerging technologies.Methods will be developed and utilized that relate to the experiential features of listening, engagement and evaluation that are related to environment and context. Recent digital developments in musical storage (audio, video, notation, etc) will be analyzed alongside the technical configurations that broadly define today's globalized societies.
The appointment is for a period of 3 years and the doctoral thesis is expected to be completed within the given time frame.
The person appointed will be affiliated with the Faculty's organized research training. The academic work must result in a doctoral thesis that will be defended at the Faculty with a view to obtaining the degree of PhD.
