Interested in exploring the communication between human immune cells and invading bacteria or fungi? Using gene expression datasets, we will explore the differences in immune cell regulation when responding to pathogens in the human blood. Immune cells respond to fungal and bacterial infections very different and such a response can get out of bounds. We will use mathematical models to (i) explain the different response mechanisms, and (ii) predict targets for therapy.
