The Faculty of Engineering – EPSRC EngD Centre – Efficient Fossil Energy Technologies at The Nottingham University offers The Engineering Doctorate (EngD) Studentships for the year 2010/11 in UK.
Applications are invited for a three year studentship to study the role of LINE-1 repetitive elements in the development of colorectal and breast cancer. The project will utilise molecular biology, biochemical and tissue culture techniques to investigate why LINE-1 become active in cancer cells and to determine whether their activation is sufficient to promote cell invasiveness. The successful student will be based at the University of Nottingham’s Medical School in Derby and will be expected to spend some time at the School of Biomedical Sciences in University Park, Nottingham.
Eligibility:
Students should have a first or upper second class honours degree in a relevant biological science (or equivalent), and they will be expected to register for a PhD. Some laboratory experience is desirable.
Studentship Details:
This studentship is expected to start in October 2010 and a stipend at the current University rate will be provided. Due to funding restrictions, this studentship is only open to UK/EU students.
