Applications are invited for three quota ESRC ''1+3'' studentships in sociology and social policy to start in September 2007. These awards cover the costs of UK students undertaking the MA in Methods of Social Research followed by a three-year PhD.
The awards cover tuition fees, maintenance (12,300 a year) and a training support grant. EU students who have been resident in the UK for three years prior to starting are also eligible.
The School is one of the leading research centres in social policy and sociology in Britain, and is one of the two departments in the UK to have a 6* in social policy. The School has 50 lecturing staff and over 30 research staff and offers supervision capacity in a very wide range of fields.
PhD programmes are available in Sociology, Criminology, Environmental Social Science, Social Policy, Social Work, and Urban Studies.
Applicants should normally have (or be expecting) a Class I or good
Class II(i) honours degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
