An outstanding PhD scholarship opportunity is offered in the UNSW School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, in association with the National Centre for Groundwater Research & Training (NCGRT). The scholar would be based mainly at the UNSW Water Research Laboratory on Sydney’s northern beaches. Research will focus on recharge-leakage processes for sustainable water management & long term attenuation of contaminants in clay aquitard barriers.

The scholar would work in a multi-disciplinary team developing & applying field & lab techniques & numerical modelling. Physical modelling & drill core characterisation at accelerated gravity will be undertaken in the new A$0.8 million centrifuge permeameter facility.

Payment Information

The value of this scholarship is AUD39375 (maximum per annum). This award is to be used for research. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 and a half years.


Research Information

This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: Civil engineering, Environmental engineering, Geology, Interdisciplinary engineering or Soil and water sciences. It is required that your study starts no earlier than March 1, 2011 and no later than July 1, 2011.

Eligibility
This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent, or Honours 2a or equivalent.
