Applications are invited for two PhD positions in Computer Vision and Machine Learning at the Chair for Computer Vision, Friedrich-Schiller - University Jena (Prof. Joachim Denzler).
The two positions are PhD scholarships financed by Carl Zeiss AG. Successful candidates would become member of the Graduate School “Image Processing and Image Understanding” a research collaboration of the TU Ilmenau and the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena. They would join a team of currently 12 PhD students working in Computer Vision, Image Processing and Robotics. Both positions are located at the Chair of Computer Vision in Jena.
The first project will tackle the problem of knowledge transfer for developing powerful classifiers in case of limited number of training examples and the use of active learning strategies. The aim of the second project is the development of methods for motion pattern detection from video sequences with applications in surveillance and microscopic video analysis. In both projects a strong cooperation with Carl Zeiss AG is provided and thus successful candidates will have the opportunity to work both in a business and academic environment.
