Department of Agriculture and Ecology wishes to appoint a Ph.D. fellow in Life cycle assessment of animal manure treatment technologies from 1 June 2011 or soon thereafter.
Project description
With reference to the project manager, the work of the Ph.D. fellow will consist mainly of duties in connection with research and development regarding life cycle assessment within the research group of Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition.
The PhD project will be part of a larger interdisciplinary project funded by the Strategic Research Council, Clean and environmentally friendly animal waste technologies for fertilizer and energy production (CLEANWASTE). The project has several national and international partners from different research institutes and industries, and hence excellent possibilities for external collaboration.
The PhD project will include work on:
- Data collection from project partners about emissions from different animal manure treatment technologies
- Development of a new impact assessment category considering odour as an environmental impact- Conducting comparative life cycle assessments of different manure treatment technologies

Terms of employment
The position will be filled according to the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The post is covered by the Protocol on Job Structure.
