Are you interested to pursue your PhD in the area Medical Information Searching/ Information Retrieval? Are you interested to find out how physicians practice evidence based medicine? Do you want to know what Information Communication and Technology services and technologies are used in this process? This research project will provide you with the opportunity to document and conduct your research study in a real life setting at University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).
Project Abstract: The project has received a Fundamental Research Grant from the Ministry of Education and willstudy how physicians search for evidence to answer a clinical question. It also examines their utilisation of information and communications technology resources and services in this process and how results of their search process inform or modify their decision making.
The expected outcome is a framework enabling reporting on the status of EBM practice in particular settings. The framework will highlight where gaps lie and suggests possible solutions. It further allows for seamless integration of EBM practices amongst physicians working in hospitals in Malaysia.
