The CRTD is set up as an interdisciplinary and interconnected network of over 80 principal in-vestigators from seven research institutes in Dresden and 15 groups in the core center working in the areas of Neurodegenerative Disorders, Haematology / Oncology / Immunology, Diabe-tes, Bone/Cartilage Replacement and Cardiovascular Disease. Several companies support the CRTD network. This network provides the expertise to develop novel regenerative therapies fast and efficiently.

Research in this laboratory focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of neuronal de-velopment and regeneration of the retina. Particular emphasis will be given to reveal the roles of neuronal activity in the regulation of adult physiological and regenerative neurogenesis in the mouse hippocampus and retina, respectively. The institute provides excellent facilities in cell culture, light-, confocal- and electron micros-copy, FACS, molecular biology, histology.
