Uppsala University hereby declares the following position to be open for application: PhD position in applied plasma research in the subject of Engineering Science with specialization in Electricity, at the ngstrm Laboratory, Department of Engineering Sciences, Division of Electricity. Starting date as soon as possible.
The Plasma Group (Applied plasma at the division of Electricity) has been involved over the years in research and development of plasma sources, processes and applications. The sources based on hollow cathodes and microwave power absorption have applications in environmental science and in the area of coatings and low temperature surface treatment. The range of operational parameters is very broad and covers both low and atmospheric pressures.
The PhD program involves both experimental and theoretical research related to plasma chemistry, plasma-wall interactions and to plasma surface engineering. Specific subjects that will be the focus of the PhD program are gas conversion and heterogeneous reactions at the interfaces.
