PhD-position in Information Processing and Control for Networked Systems at the Department of Engineering in the subject Electrical Engineering with specialization in Signal Processing or Automatic Control, at the Department of Engineering Sciences, The angstrom Laboratory, Division of Signals and Systems, with access during the fall 2013.
The Division of Signals and Systems conducts internationally recognized research in the area of control, signal processing and communications. One of the recent research focus of the division is on design and analysis of signal processing and control algorithms for and via networked sensor systems. Sensor networks have emerged as a key techology for environmental monitoring, aged health care, structural health and safety monitoring. Similarly, industrial automation systems are now designed with large number of sensors and actuators connected via wireless links. Large-scale industrial systems connected via a mixture of wired and wireless connections (such as the smart electricity grid) will become more and more common in the near future. Hence, novel methods for information processing and control of such systems are required.
This PhD project will focus on design and analysis of estimation and control algorithms under various forms of communication constraints such as packet loss, delay, wireless channel fading, and various other networking related issues and resource constraints due to limited energy, bandwidth and will explore integration of new technologies such as energy harvesting into these algorithms.
