I’m looking for a PhD candidate for 2011 intake, who has a solid background in mathematics (in particular, algebra) and control theory. The student is expected to work on supervisory control for complex systems or other relevant topics about discrete-event systems. Some working knowledge about software and hardware will be a plus, but not necessary.
For an excellent candidate I can provide a 4-year research scholarship, which is worth about SGD2000/month before the qualification exam and SGD2500/month after passing the exam plus all relevant fees. There are many other funding opportunities available from Nanyang Technological University (NTU). The candidate must apply for admission to NTU first. For students from non-English-speaking countries, TOEFL and GRE or English and Technical Proficiency Tests (by NTU) are required.
