The Information Systems (IS) group within the faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) at the University of Twente has a vacancy for a PhD student.
The challenge
Supporting people in deploying a healthier life style as well as facilitating their ability to work more flexibly is considered important. Well-being applications at work and at home are expected to help people to continue contributing to society, the marketplace and the economy. Furthermore, these applications may help suppressing the rising costs of chronic disease and ill-health. Since health, work and well-being are closely linked, they need to be addressed together.
The objective of this PhD project is to elicit and analyze the needs of people with respect to "well-working" supported by e-monitoring and e-coaching technology, and to develop criteria and architectural guidelines for employing such technology while fulfilling the identified needs. Special attention goes to the privacy of end-users, which is challenged by the use of pervasive monitoring technology.
The research is part of a larger national research project on User-Centric Reasoning for Well-working (COMMIT P7). Validation of the research will be done in co-operation with the partners in the national project, using developed prototypes and field trials in real-life settings.
Our offer
We offer a full-time PhD position in a dynamic and international environment. The duration of the contract is four years. The gross salary will range from € 2.042,00 in the first year to € 2.612,00 per month in the fourth year.
