Starting date no later than October1, 2011. The teaching must be conducted in one of the Scandinavian languages (preferred) or English. Only candidates with very good communication skills in English will be considered.

Job description:
The position is associated with the Structural Physics Group in the team of Theoretical Material Physics at the Department of Physics, University of Oslo. The successful candidate will work with parameter-free atomistic modeling of materials for clean energy applications, with special focus on interfaces in devices.

More specifically, you will theoretically analyze the physics of novel semiconductor oxides that will be used in next-generation thermoelectric and photovoltaic applications. The research involves studies on bulk compounds as well as interfaces between two materials, using state-of-the-art computer program packages and national supercomputer resources. You will work in an open-minded and creative research environment, and the studies will be performed closely together with the experimentalists at our department and also with international research groups.
