A number of PhD scholarships in Spatial Statistics are available at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Aalborg University. The scholarships are open for appointment from August 1, 2011 or a soon as possible thereafter. Deadline for application is May 20, 2011.
The PhD student will be associated with the spatial statistics group at Department of Mathematical Sciences .The group is recognised worldwide for its excellent front line research contributions in all aspects of spatial and computational statistics. The senior members are 2 Professors and 2 Associate Professors with cutting edge competences within advanced spatial point process modelling, simulation-based likelihood inference, random field modelling, and stochastic geometry.
The spatial statistic group is part of the Centre for Stochastic Geometry and Advanced Bioimaging and the PhD student will work within the research areas of this centre. The fundamental aim of the centre is to develop a new generation of stochastic geometry methods for analyzing advanced bioimaging data with a particular focus on molecular microscopy data. The statistical research topics involved are spatial point processes, image analysis and stochastic geometry.
