Copenhagen Business School invites applications for two vacant PhD scholarships within the field of Danish/European-Chinese social science research. The PhD must conduct research which is embedded in already existing research projects at CBS related to the Sino-Danish University Center-initiative . The scholarships will be available from 1 August 2011.
The PhD scholarship can be situated at any department or center at CBS which has research on Danish-Chinese issues related to SDC and the department/centre must have supervision competences within the field. Core research areas are (1) welfare, social innovation, public management and social development and (2) innovation management. More specifically, the research projects must be placed within the following research areas:
Welfare
A broad group of political economists, sociologists, economists, and political scientists focus on Comparing Welfare Regimes, Institutional Competitiveness, and Social Innovation. This theme is divided into five areas in which several research projects are emerging.
- Welfare regimes, the organization of welfare, institutional competitiveness, and social innovation
- The labour market and the tension between social security and economic efficiency
- Welfare reforms and the mixed economy of welfare
- Business regimes and social innovation (including corporate governance and CSR)
- Building national competitiveness through public sector regimes
Innovation Management
The theme Innovation Management is approached cross-disciplinary and focuses on three areas:
- Innovation Systems
- Innovation Related to Business Systems in a Cross-Cultural Perspective
- Company Level Innovation and Innovation Management
We call for proposals for a research project the aim of which is to study welfare, social innovation and innovation management either in a comparative perspective between Denmark / Europe and China or to provide knowledge about the Chinese context or challenges for Danish / European companies in China.
For the scholarships, CBS will give priority to applicants who demonstrate competencies within empirical as well as theoretical studies.
The Department will give priority to applicants with high grades from their universities.
The three-year PhD programme at CBS allows you to conduct research under the supervision of CBS professors, supported by research training courses. The programme is highly international, and you are expected to participate in international research conferences and to spend time abroad as a visiting PhD student.
CBS PhD graduates are held in high esteem not only in academia and research institutions but also in government and business where their research qualifications are increasingly demanded. One third of CBS PhD graduates go on to employment outside universities and public research institutions.
