Following the acquisition of several regional and international research projects, the visual computing research group of EDM seeks to recruit several new researchers in the coming months. Some projects require the candidate to perform fundamental research, as obtaining a PhD is envisaged.
Other projects are more applied R&D projects, in which EDM collaborates with local and international companies to improve state of art technology and prepare it for commercial deployment. The latter projects enable a candidate to obtain a PhD degree eventually, but are also open for candidates not aiming for a PhD degree in the first place.
The projects relate to compressive sensing, light field cameras, 360-degrees and free viewpoint video, 3D shape reconstruction, reconstruction of light reflection properties, augmented reality, and high dynamic range imaging. EDM provides successful candidates with a stimulating, dynamic and flexible work environment with young colleagues, a network with world class research laboratories and/ or companies in the field of visual computing in Belgium and abroad, the opportunity for research stays abroad, and an attractive salary.
Within this context, Hasselt University is by this announcement opening up two PhD positions in aforementioned areas, financed for a period of 4 years from the Hasselt University research fund (BOF).
