The Department of Meteorology at Stockholm University is a part of the Bert Bolin Centre for Climate Research. The aim of the centre is to bring together climate research expertise in four different departments to conduct fundamental research on critical processes in the climate system.
Atmospheric aerosols play a key role in the radiative balance of the Earth, directly through scattering and absorbing sunlight and indirectly through acting as cloud condensation nuclei, thereby altering the radiative and physical properties of clouds.
The position is funded by the Swedish Research Council Formas within the framework of the Modeling Aerosol-Cloud-Climate Interactions and Impacts (MACCII) project. The overall aim of MACCII is to bridge the gap between new understanding of climate-relevant processes and new and improved parameterizations of these processes in global climate models. MACCII specifically concentrates on aerosols, clouds and their interactions.
Conditions of employment
The position is full time for a maximum of four study years. Some department tasks, such as teaching or assistantship, may apply and in this case the total time for employment will be extended with the corresponding time.
