The present PhD project is embedded in the multidisciplinary venture ‘Substitution in Practice of Prioritized Fluorinated Chemicals to Eliminate Diffuse Sources - SUPFES’ financed by the Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning (FORMAS). The overall aim of SUPFES is to characterise and decrease the diffuse emissions of fluorinated chemicals from consumer products such as textiles.
The present PhD program will contain the following elements:
- Trace organic analysis of PFASs and potential substitution chemicals in environmental matrices, including analytical method development.
- Experimental lab studies to investigate the fate of chemicals applied on consumer products and goods.
- Physical-chemical property estimations and environmental fate modeling.
- Optionally, ecotoxicology testing may be included.
- Participation in regular SUPFES board meetings and communication with partners from other scientific disciplines within SUPFES and with stakeholders.
