Applications are invited for a PhD student positions the fields of surface science, model catalysis, operando spectroscopy, and spectro-electrochemistry at the at the University Erlangen-Nuremberg (Physical Chemistry II, Prof. Jrg Libuda).
Combining advanced surface science methods, molecular beam techniques, reactor studies, in-situ and operando spectroscopy, the group studies the mechanisms and kinetics of chemical reactions at surfaces and interfaces. Specifically, we aim at understanding processes in heterogeneous catalysis, nanotechnology and energy technology at the molecular level. The group’s special focus is on bridging fundamental and applied research by advanced spectroscopy on model and real materials, from ultrahigh-vacuum to realistic reaction conditions. This also includes the development of new instrumentation beyond the current state of the art.
Current and upcoming projects involve investigations in the fields of e.g. ionic liquid model catalysis, model studies of liquid organic hydrogen carriers, operando spectroscopy on real catalysts, model studies of new materials for hydrogen production, fuel cell technology, solar energy conversion, or molecular electronics.
