The chair of Plant Breeding invites applications for a Postdoc (German gov. salary TV-L 13) position for 3 years starting now. Research in our group is focused on the development of molecular and statistical tools for plant breeding and genome analysis.

The candidates will work in an interdisciplinary team of plant breeders, biologists, bioinformaticians and statisticians. The position is set within the DFG funded CRC (SFB) 924 on “Molecular Mechanisms Regulating Yield and Yield Stability in Plants”.

Project description:
The successful applicant will lead the sub-project “Genetic analysis of complex traits in maize: major components of drought tolerance (DT) and growth-related traits”. Central aim of the project is the structural analysis of selected genomic regions that play a role in DT and growth-related traits in field and controlled environment studies.

In collaboration with other groups in the CRC we will test the transferability of molecular mechanisms governing DT and growth related traits between A. thaliana and maize. The project will have an impact on genome-based breeding strategies in maize and possibly other cereals for improving DT.

The Technische Universitt Munchen pursues the strategic goal of substantially increasing the proportion of women in research and education and thus expressly invites qualified female scientists to apply for these positions.
