The thematic project Schizophrenia and other psychosis: social and biological determinants supported by FAPESP (grant number 2012/05178-0) has an open postdoctoral position in Neuroimaging in Psychiatry with a FAPESP fellowship for registration and later selection.
Summary: This proposal is part of a multicenter study, the European Network of National Networks Studying Schizophrenia Gene-Environment Interactions, an international consortium that aims to investigate etiology, mechanisms and prognosis of Schizophrenia and other psychosis (SOP). This proposal aims to estimate the incidence of SOP in the region of Ribeiro Preto-SP, Brazil, and to investigate possible interactions between social and biological factors in the occurrence of mental disorders.
Specifically for this position, the fellow will carry out the subproject Structural Brain abnormalities in Schizophrenia and Other Psychosis (SOP) aimed to investigate: a) anatomic changes in the brain of individuals with EOP, compared with healthy controls and with individuals at risk of EOP (healthy siblings), b) pre-morbid and clinical factors associated with anatomical changes in the brain of individuals with EOP c) associations between genetic variants and anatomical changes in the brain of individuals with EOP, using Genome Wide Associations (GWA).
