KTH in Stockholm is the largest and oldest technical university in Sweden. No less than one-third of Sweden’s technical research and engineering education capacity at university level is provided by KTH. Education and research spans from natural sciences to all branches of engineering and includes architecture, industrial management and urban planning. There are a total of just over 15,000 first and second level students and more than 1,600 doctoral students. KTH has almost 4,300 employees.
The School of Engineering Sciences carries out a wide range of research at the international front line, from fundamental disciplines such as physics and mathematics, to engineering mechanics with applications such as aeronautics and vehicle engineering. A postdoctoral position is announced at the Department of Theoretical Physics, School of Engineering Sciences, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden, in the area of theoretical condensed matter physics. The department is located at the AlbaNova University Center in Stockholm together with the departments of physics and applied physics at KTH, the departments of physics and astronomy at Stockholm University, and Nordita.
Areas of interest are correlation effects in nanoscale systems, correlated electron materials or molecular electronics of DNA and other macromolecules. The project involves collaboration between ongoing efforts on mescopic physics at the KTH Department of Theoretical Physics and theory and modeling efforts by Alexander Balatsky at Nordita. The position is a non-tenurable position with an initial appointment for one year with the possibility of a one-year renewal.
