The Institute of Landscape Ecology and Resources Management (ILR) holds an Wissenschaftliche/ r Mitarbeiter/ in (50% BAT IIa) (open PhD position) for 3 years starting June 2008 (DFG project "Ensemble modelling of hydrological and nitrogen fluxes in mesoscale catchments").
The candidate will be responsible to set up a suite of hydro-biogeochemica l models (HBV, LASCAM, SWAT, CMF) to investigate catchment scale water and nitrogen fluxes for catchments in Germany, Sweden and Australia. These models will then be pooled in model ensembles to investigate the effect of predictive model uncertainty. The work will be conducted in close cooperation with Swedish and Australian project partners.
Applicants should have strong skills in hydrological and/or biogeochemical modelling. The work will include programming and statistical data analysis as well as GIS based data evaluation. Candidates should be team-players, fluent in English, and have the ambition to publish their results in peer-reviewed international journals. The position requires travelling to Sweden and Australia and several weeks to months stay at the project partnerAs institution.
