Darwin Winter School 2009 is the first international Darwin Biogeology Winter School from the 12th tot the 22nd of January 2009.
The program includes theoretical lectures, practical classes and workshops on Biogeochemical cycles and Timescales versus Processes, and Modeling & Upscaling will be addressed in both themes. The courses will be given by both Darwin Center researchers and internationaly renowned scientists (details to be announced in due course).

Attending the Darwin Winter School is an optional part of the Darwin Educational Program for Darwin PhDs and is open for biogeology PhDs outside the Darwin Center. MSc students can also apply to attend, however, they'll need to submit a letter of motivation accompanied by a letter of recommendation from their science tutor. The number of participants is limited to 30, and Darwin PhDs will get priority in case of over-registration.

The costs will be about a 500 per person. The Winter School program consists of twelve days, i.e. two course weeks plus a recreational weekend (most likely a field trip to the sunken land of Saeftinghe in Zeeland). The daily schedule contains morning and afternoon sessions, as well as an evening session.
Official registration is not possible yet, however, you can let the Darwin Office ( know if you are interested, and we'll make sure to send you more information as soon as possible.
