
Master degree programmes (in English) at Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuania:
Kaunas University of Technology, with its eleven faculties, a Division in Paneveys, high school (gymnasium), and numerous research centres, is the second largest university in Lithuania. About 80% of Lithuaniaas industrial engineers have graduated from KTU.
The present Kaunas University of Technology originated from the School of Higher Studies, which was established in 1920. Two years later this School was reorganised and became the University of Lithuania. In 1930 it was named Vytautas Magnus University, and in 1946 was renamed as the State University of Kaunas. After World War II, the Kaunas Polytechnic Institute (KPI) emerged as a successor to the State University. In 1990, KPI was restructured and brought into line with most Western universities. By Parliamentary decision, it was then granted its present university status and name.

Other undergraduate and Masteras study programmes are taught in Lithuanian language.
If a student wants to study any other undergraduate programme than Export Engineering (electromechanical field of studies) in the field of technological sciences, he/she may apply for Export Engineering programme, and after 2 years of studies there and learning Lithuanian he can transfer to any other undergraduate study programme in the field of technological sciences. Otherwise prospective student must present the certificate of Lithuanian language examination.
Basic information for international applicants
Any person who has sufficient education to be enrolled in a certain programme (for undergraduate programme - twelve year secondary or equivalent education in any other country than Lithuania; for Masteras programme a bachelor degree of university) and is applying for degree studies at Kaunas University of Technology is considered to be an international applicant.
The Ministerial decree makes a division between the applicants on the basis of their citizenship. Therefore, the application procedure as well as financial conditions of studies is different for those two groups of applicants.
1st group. Applicants from the EU and EEA countries as well as the persons having permanent residency permit in Lithuania may apply for undergraduate studies under the same conditions as Lithuanian applicants through joint admission network, which unites all university type higher education institutions in Lithuania ( www.lamabpo.lt ). The main admission deadline is on the 20th of July 2007. The selected students pay a tuition fee of 520 Lt (~150 EUR) once per semester.
2nd group. International applicants from any other country as well as the EU citizens who apply directly to KTU are accepted via International Office ( international@ktu.lt ) under the following rules.

Application deadlines
All the study programmes start only once per year on the 1st of September (autumn semester). Therefore, the completed application form and supporting documents must be received at the KTU International Office by the 1st of June for non EU and EEA citizens; by the 20th of July for EU and EEA citizens.

Application fee is 100 EUR (non-refundable)
The financial conditions of studies (tuition fees) are different for the EU and for non EU citizens under the basis of the EU and Lithuanian law. The tuition fee is calculated on the basis of standard volume of 20 credits (30 ECTS) per semester:
Master degree studies:
For the best applicants (limited number) 520 Lt
For the others studying in humanities, philology, social sciences, technology sciences and arts 2200 Lt - 2800 Lt.
1 EURO = 3.4528 Lt
The tuition fee for the first semester is required to pay after getting the admission letter. In the case of not getting studentas visa, the tuition fee is returned.
Every student is required to prove his ability to cover living expenses during the studies. Usually a student need no less 300 EUR per month (3600 EUR per year). Students are allowed to have a part time job starting from the second year of studies.
