Anyone holding a Bachelor''s degree is eligible to apply to one of the EPFL Masters Programmes. Please note that you are allowed to apply to one programme only. Your choice will depend on your previous studies and on your personal interests.

Current EPFL students automatically receive a re-registration form at the end of their bachelor studies and do not need to submit a dossier.

Because your application will be processed centrally, it is important that you submit all materials together and mail them to the address below. If your file is incomplete, your application cannot be processed.

Online Application Instructions

In order to apply to a Master Programme at EPFL, you first have to go through the online application procedure .

Fill in the form completely and validate it (by submitting it on the web). You will then be requested to print a PDF file containing your application data.

Once your application is printed, please date it, sign it and send it to the Registrar''s Office (address below), together with the following documents:

* Copies of university (or pre-university) degrees and grades

* An official university transcript from each university you have attended

* A statement of purpose

* 3 letters of recommendation from university professors (not necessary for holders of a Swiss Bachelor in the same field)

* Copy of baccalaureate/maturité diploma

* A 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm colour photo

* If you apply for a scholarship: add the Financial Aid Application Form, to be downloaded here.

* Applicants for Architecture only: join a portfolio of work samples (A3 max.). Applicants must have a 12-month professional experience before they start the programme. Please join the certificates if already available.

The three letters of recommendation must be issued by professors who are well aware of your work and qualities. Each letter must be delivered in a separate enveloped and sealed by the professor''s signature. Your name and the programme to which you are applying must be clearly stated on the envelope.

You will be able to download the pro forma letters (pdf file) on the validation page once you have registered your referees'' details. Make sure you leave long enough to your referees to write the recommendation and send it back to you in time.

The statement of purpose should not exceed 1000 words. You are required to describe your academic background and your career strategy. Please be precise about the objectives you wish to reach through your studies at EPFL.

The extra documents such as TOEFL or GRE scores, research publications or other portfolios of your previous work, are welcome but not compulsory.

Your complete file, containing all your documents, must be sent by post (no electronic application!) to the Registrar''s Office (address below).

Deadlines

We process applications two times each year, December 15 and May 15.

It might be advisable to apply for the first deadline in order to have an answer earlier and have enough time for the visa procedures if necessary.

The next application deadline to start your programme in Septembre 2007 is May 15 2007. Please make sure you send your application on time.

Applications are processed by an admission committee and decisions are sent out within 6 weeks of each deadline. Regardless of which deadline you choose to meet, studies begin in mid-September following acceptance.

Acceptance

Current EPFL students and students from swiss universities or from universities which are members of the CLUSTER network are automatically accepted as masters students into the programme from which they earned their bachelor''s degree. Remaining positions are limited and acceptance is competitive.

Financial aid

A limited amount of financial aid is available, granted on a merit basis for exceptional students.

To apply for a scholarship you need to provide the required financial information, as described in the Financial Aid Application Form .
