The course description:
The course is divided into three parts and is designed to provide students with an intermediate knowledge of Management Accounting, International Financial Reporting and Financial Management building upon prior fundamental knowledge of Accounting and Finance.International Financial Reporting shall introduce students to International Accounting Standards (IAS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) respectively.
Given the vast importance of International Financial Reporting in today's business life, the objective is to provide students with an understanding of the main measurement principles.Management Accounting shall provide students with an understanding of those concepts that are fundamental to the use of managerial accounting. Managerial accounting is a field of accounting that provides economic and financial cost management information for managers and other internal users.
Cost management information is needed to make sound strategic decisions regarding choice of products, manufacturing methods, marketing techniques and channels, and other long-term issues.The Corporate Financial Management module prepares students to be competent in the skills of a corporate financial manager and in understanding the impact of finances on the organization and its decision making. At the conclusion of the Corporate Financial Management module, students will be able to:
- Understand and apply the principles of working capital management including inventory optimization, trade credit and cash management
- Prepare a cash-budget and a short-term financial plan
- Understand the practical implications of project financing

Target group
General requirements are a minimum university standing of two years for undergraduates. Students are expected to have a fundamental knowledge of Accounting and Finance, ie they should understand the very basic principles of double-accounting, cost accounting and capital budgeting (eg present value method).
Course aim
At the end of the course students should be able to: Assist in preparing financial statements Read and understand financial statements Analyze the main features of financial statements and understand the implications of certain measurement principles (creative accounting) Understand and apply the principles of working capital management Prepare a cash-budget and a short-term financial plan Understand the practical implications of project financing Understand basic concepts of Management Accounting and prepare financial cost management information
Credits
8.0 ECTS credits
Students will attend one Intensive Course (in this case, Accounting and Finance) and one Enrichment Course (either Negotiation Management or International Human Resource Management) and gain a total of 8 ECTS.
Course fee
EUR 800; Full tuition: 800 EUR OR reduced tuition: 400 EUR which applies to students who attend a WU partner university school.
EUR 1190: In addition to the tuition fee, a program fee is also required. The following services are included in the program fee:

- Public transportation ticket within Vienna for the time of the session

Course leader
WU university staff will hold this intensive course (6 ECTS) from Monday through Friday in the mornings. Enrichment courses (2 ECTS) are held by renowned, international guest lecturers of WU partner universities and take place on selected afternoons.
